Defeating the purpose

Mar 16, 2007 10:51

Ok... so I'm at the pharmacy picking up prescriptions, and a woman is there with her little four year old boy. She's saying, "Hold on, honey. Mommy's getting your medicine." Later, as I'm walking out of the store, I see her getting ready to back her car out, the kid strapped into the back seat, and her sucking on a cigarette. Why bother getting your child a prescription to help them over some ailment if you're doing your best to kill them with secondhand smoke anyway? The only thing that would have been more ironic was if she had been buying the kid cough medicine.
