The Force Unleashed. I almost never pre-order video games, but I decided I really wanted this one, after what I'd seen and read about it. This evening, I decided to look at the official site, just for a lark, since I hadn't yet.

I don't really expect that out of this game, though. As is usual for Lucas, he's really focusing on special effects over everything else--the big things touted about this game are the new technologies on display. Which is all well and good, but as large swaths of the prequel movies demonstrated, amazing special effects with bad dialogue and skimpy plot does not a good movie make--the same is true of a video game, in my opinion. At least for one that's got a plot at all.
I'm hopeful that isn't all this is--an elaborate tech demo--since Lucas seemed to start to figure that out as the prequels went along--RotS was almost as good as RotJ, which was the second-best of the original movies, and might have been better if Christiansen (and Portman) were a more experienced actor.
