More about Minerva
I wonder sometimes why in fanfics McGonagall is so often shown to be the one most distrustful and hating towards Slytherins. She is, for example, usually the one to treat Harry with suspicion when he starts being friends with Draco. It seems to me a very strange attempt on characterization. Isn't she shown in the books as being most rigorously fair towards all the students, her own house or not? From this and other trends noticeable in her behaviour I'd expect her to be fiercely partisan in sports events and attentive to house pride, but threating all students the same and not thinking much aboiut the house system at the other times.
