Monster High Diary: Angela Sterling

July 4

Dear Diary,
Hello!  I'm Angela.  I created you because Sir wants me to keep a written record of my feelings and experiences during my time here at Monster High.  I am telling you this because as your creator,  I feel I need to give you a framework for your existence.  Do not worry, I am a kind and benevolent master.

Well, I feel...I don't know...like there are tiny birds beating their wings inside my tummy.  I've never been up top before...and well, I'm a little..scared.  I'm not just up top, I'm around a bunch of people.  Sir says that I should have social interactive experience with someone other than him before my accelerated growth comes to a stop and I start to age a lot slower.  I'm not so sure about that.  I don't really want to spend time with anyone other than him...and Giselle and Mar Mar, of course.  I don't need anyone as long as I have them.

I do not like this idea of High School.  I'll be staying in their boarding dormitories and I can't bring Mar Mar.  This stinks like spoiled cell samples! >

August 15
I went to an interview.  It is where the boss of the school, Headless Headmistress Bloodgood, asked me a bunch of questions.  I answered according to the way that Sir wanted me to and she seemed pleased.  Then she took her head off and sat it on the desk.  How strange!  My head doesn't do that at all!  Well, she showed me around the dormitories, all big old buildings with gargoyles on the roofs. While we were exploring, I heard a click and saw a flash like a camera, but when I turned around, no one was there. Strange.  In any case, Headmistress Bloodgood told me that a lot of students are special in their own way and have a habit of popping up where you least expect them.  I wonder if they pop up with cameras? Oh, well, I'll wait and see.

New Student Orientation.
It was terrifying.  Three little words, lots of drama.
At least for me.
I was really nervous the whole time because I was by myself and no one I knew was there.  They're all back home.  I was sad when Headmistress left after her opening speech, because then I really didn't know anyone.  So, I did what Sir is always telling me to do and looked around.  The students here don't look anything like Earth natives are supposed to.  I kind of like that because some of them remind me of the children that Sir and I are taking care of.  Thinking about it like that made me feel better and maybe this would not be so scary after all.

My group consisted of myself, something furry with ears on its head, some kind of elf girl, a bird boy, and a plant lady.  Each group was given a student mentor to give us a tour of the school.  They volunteer to help out the fleshmen.  What a funny word that is when you write it.  Boss said it was "freshmen," which sounds a lot cleaner than that other one, but, oh, well.  My student mentor was a short girl named Draculaura.  Even in her platform shoes, she was shorter than me.  She was really sweet, though.  She talked really fast, which made it hard to take notes.  I found out she was a vampire who doesn't drink blood, but takes Iron supplements and drinks fruit smoothies, cherry flavored, of course.  Very interesting.  I didn't know that was possible.  I ended up writing more about vampires than the school.  I DID write down where all my classes were, just to be safe.  I also heard the click and saw the flash again, but it was down the hall.

August 20

First day of school.

Everything is so busy!  There is so much to take in.  I've been doodling in all my spare time to try to capture the wide variety of fauna and...flora?  That make up the school's population.  I might have to dip into the savings account of credits that Sir set up for me to purchase an iCoffin.  That seems to be the primary way that the ghouls around here communicate.  Plus, they have built in cameras that would allow me to capture the lifeforms here a lot easier.  Sketching is fun, but very time consuming and I have a schedule to keep.

Speaking of schedules, I love mine!  There is a class called Home Ick that I really like.  They actually teach you how to cook and make things!  There is a witch in my class who sits near me who enjoys complaining about it very loudly.  I do not like this about her, which is a shame because she smells so pretty, like flowers.  I wonder why she smells like flowers?
I also have Geoalgebratrigonometry.  It is like all kinds of math all at once.  It is a lot of work, but I like a challenge.  There is a zombie girl named Ghoulia who is very friendly and very excellent at the subject.  I will ask her if I have any problems.
Human Studies is easy.  At least I think so, but I guess it helps to have actually known humans and their ways.  All those prank calls to Gina really helped!  Also, I could have sworn I felt Sir's energy signature across the room, but when I looked, it was just a boy named Michael.  He knows a lot about humans, too.  I was disappointed, but surprised.  How can he feel so much like Sir?  He doesn't act anything like him, though, so I guess they aren't related...or maybe he is Sir's ancestor?  That would be amazing.  I wish I could tell him how wonderful Sir is, but that would be spoiling.  I'm not allowed to do that.
History.  Yawn.  I already know all this. Literally.  Sir's educational programming covered everything that they are showing...and then some into the future.  I have to be careful to not spoil things!  I got busted for drawing in class, I couldn't help it!  The boy in front of he had such amazing hair!  It was made of snakes and they kept looking at me and making cute snakey faces!  The teacher said I should wait until art period to draw.  Whatever that is.

Enghoulish.  No kidding.  It is a class about Monster writing.  We read books by all the great monster writers, especially ghost writers.  We also write about them, then talk about them, then write about them again.

Art.  A class dedicated to drawing, painting, and sculpting. I was unaware that that was actually what we would be doing.  It turns out, Ghoulia likes to draw too!  But, since she's a zombie, she takes a really long time to draw anything.  She only made a single circle the whole hour.

August 27

I got an iCoffin!  Draculaura invited me to the shopping place known as the Maul and helped me pick one out!  I can't wait to try it out! I also found a very...interesting pair of boots!  They were silver with blue glitter, and they even had little stars on the side!  Perfect!  I had to have them!  They matched my clothes so well, all of them!  Then we went to a store that sold only makeup and I found some very beautiful nail polish that I got and Draculaura was kind enough to apply to my nails as I had no idea how to do it.  It is hard waiting for them to dry.  Mar Mar could never have her nails done.  She moves around too much.  I really miss her...and Sir.  I can't wait to tell them about shopping, but that is enough of the Maul for me for now, I pretty much used up all my spending money for the month...wait...September is only a few days away.

September 1
I found out what the click and flash was.  It is a ghost named Spectra Vondergeist!  Well, she doesn't click and flash...her iCoffin does!
She likes to pop in and out of walls, all the while making trouble while she does.  She sends out texts to the whole school about things that she thinks are happening, but not necessarily what are.  I got a text on my iCoffin that said that Michael and the witch...Charmster?  Charmstar?, Uhh...Charmie, yeah...that Michael and Charmie were dating because she ran up to him in the hall and hugged him.  Then there was that familiar flash and click, and I saw the hand holding the camera float into the wall.  Literally into it!  Is it a ghost camera?  Well, Michael spent the whole day going out of his way to point out that he is most definitely not dating the insane witch, even if she smells nice.  I added that last part myself.  Because she does.  I didn't delete the picture, though, even though Michael asked everyone to.  It was just too cute!
Michael chased Spectra through the halls and she flew away wailing, but I wasn't sure if she was laughing or crying.  Sometimes it is hard to tell.
Charmie was laughing.  No question.  It isn't hard to tell with her.

September 5
I got invited to a party hosted by Cleo De Nile, literally, the local princess.  She's a few thousand years old, but doesn't look a day over sixteen!  She's dating Deuce, the boy with the snakey hair.  Well, I was invited.  So was the whole school, but it felt nice to be invited and included when I'm so new.  The party was really loud, courtesy of some DJ named Holt Hyde.  He mixed some really interesting dance music.  Charmie was there, as usual, looking like she smelled something awful, but really just was there to be there.  No one misses Cleo De Nile's parties.  No one except Michael, I guess.  I couldn't find him!  I wanted to talk to him to find out more about him, but he wasn't there.

September 7

I got a letter from Sir today.

It wasn't bad news, but I started to cry.

I don't understand why.

All it was was a letter that said he knew I was doing a great job and that he was proud of me...and that Mar-Mar is doing fine, but she misses me.

I miss her, too.  And Sir.  And Giselle....and all the children in their tubes!
This place is so big and different and there are so many kinds of people that it feels overwhelming and sometimes I don't know what to do.

When I picked up the envelope, something fell out.

It was a tiny blue pendant that glittered brightly in the light.  Attached to it was a small note from Sir that read: Here is a good luck charm for my Little Star, even though you don't really need it."

I put it on and haven't taken it off since...and I have felt better.
While I still miss Sir and the kitties and the others, I like taking a little memento of them everywhere I go.  It helps me focus on what I am doing, knowing that they are only a thought or a touch away.

You know, Diary?

I think this school thing is going to be very big and exciting.
