-August 17, 1999-
As the twins were eating dinner with GD, Junghwa suddenly asked, “Daddy, when’s your birthday?” and stuffed carrots in her mouth.
“Tomorrow, why?” said GD as he looked up from his food.
“Oh, just wondering,” said Junghwa as she swallowed the carrots that were in her mouth, “I’m done, may I be excused?”
“Sure,” said GD and Junghwa quickly hopped off her seat and ran to her room.
Eunjae quickly finished her dinner knowing that Junghwa is up to something. Finally she finished her dinner and she asked, “I’m done also, may I go and play with Junghwa?”
“Sure,” said GD, and Eunjae got off her seat and walked to Junghwa’s room.
“I wonder what their up too,” thought GD as he went to put the dishes in the sink and start to wash them.
-August 18, 1999-
“Junghwa, Eunjae!” called GD, “I’m going shopping for a bit, be back later”
Eunjae quickly ran out of her bedroom and hugged her daddy and said, “Bye daddy, hope you have fun!”
GD hugged Eunjae back, and asked, “Where’s Junghwa?”
“Still sleeping,” said Eunjae, “You know how she usually sleeps late.”
GD laughed and left the house leaving the twins all by themselves.
“Unnie!” said Eunjae, “daddy’s gone!”
Junghwa opened her bedroom door a bit and peeked then ran out of her room, “Okay! Let’s get started!” said Junghwa.
Eunjae nodded and they both went to the kitchen and started to bake a cake, just like how they used to bake a cake for their mom and dad’s birthday.
“Okay, we have flour right?” said Eunjae.
Junghwa quickly got flour out of the cabinet, “Now we do!” said Junghwa smiling.
Eunjae started to list on what they needed and Junghwa went around the kitchen and got the ingredients. After they got the ingredients, Eunjae started to tell Junghwa how much flour, sugar, etc. she needed to measure. Soon, they finished measuring, and mixing everything together and they put it in a circle container and put it in the oven.
“Eunjae,” said Junghwa, “Why is the oven cold?”
Eunjae and Junghwa looked up and saw that Eunjae forgot to preheat the oven.
“Oops,” said Eunjae and she quickly went to preheat the oven and Junghwa took the cake out.
“You always forget to preheat the oven,” said Junghwa.
“No, I don’t!” said Eunjae, and someone rang the doorbell.
Junghwa went to press the button and asked, “Who ISSSS it?”
“Junghwa, Eunjae, it’s me GD’s mom.”
Junghwa and Eunjae looked at each other and Eunjae pressed the button saying, “Grandma, you can’t come in, we’re doing something.”
“Okay then I’ll come back later,” said GD’s mom, “Tell GD that I came okay?”
Junghwa pushed the button once again and both of them said in sync, “Okay.”
Junghwa and Eunjae went back to the kitchen and put the unbaked cake into the oven and waited for 30 minutes. Junghwa went to play on the computer while Eunjae watched her play on the computer. After 1 hour of playing, Junghwa and Eunjae realized that the cake was still in the oven and they quickly ran into the kitchen and turned off the oven, then opened the oven’s door. They smelled the burning of the cake as they took out it out of the oven.
“Eww,” said Junghwa staring at the cake.
“We burnt the cake…” said Eunjae, looking really sad.
“No way,” said Junghwa, “Daddy’s going to come home soon though…”
Both of them sighed and they heard the front door opening, “I’m home Junghwa and Eunjae,”
“Uh oh…” whispered Junghwa and Eunjae.
“Junghwa, Eunjae! What’s that smell?” said GD as he went towards the kitchen and he saw them holding a burnt cake.
“Daddy…” whispered Eunjae.
“We baked you a cake…” whispered Junghwa.
“But we accidentally burnt it,” whispered Eunjae and they started to cry.
“It’s okay,” said GD, as he kneel and patted Eunjae and Junghwa’s head, “I don’t care if you burnt it or not, as long as you try your best on making the cake, daddy will be happy.”
The twins stopped crying, and looked at GD and whispered, “Really?”
“Mhmm,” said GD, “now, let’s go get some real cake shall we?” and he grabbed their hands and they started to walk to the cake shop near the house.
“Daddy,” said Eunjae as they were walking down the sheet, “Happy Birthday!”
“Happy Birthday Daddy!” said Junghwa and both of them hugged GD.
“Thank you,” said GD smiling.
