And yet once again DragonCon has ended and I am thrust back into that nasty reality stuff. Went a little art-crazy this year, but in a good way. I think. :)
Nene Thomas had 3 new pieces I liked (that apparently haven't made it onto her site yet) where I usually only get one or two, and then there were a couple relatively minor pieces in the Art Show I liked (Quick Sale on two, bought one print from the artist, bid on a third). And there was this one really, really striking piece (Rhapsody by
Rod Fuchs) that I kept going back to (and voted for Best in Show). So, about half an hour before the end of the silent auction I'm checking on my bid and making a last pass through the hall, and there isn't even a single bid on Rhapsody. And then temptation set in.
So there I am calling or texting everyone I knew and trusted who was local and had driven. If I couldn't get it home, I wasn't going to get it. Luckily,
katie_jar and
snackpants either (depending on your point of view) came to my rescue or enabled me.
Let me just say it is a very heady feeling to walk out of an Art Show with what you consider the best piece in there.
Dawn contest was spectacular as always, and it was great to see all of the people I only ever see at DragonCon. But now, it is time to sleep and recover and I can't put into words how happy I am that I took the rest of the week off.
