You stole through the forest
In the dead of night
And ignored your fatigue
And winter's frost bite
And brandished your stake
And carried your cross
And cried away memories
While trudging through moss
And onto my crypt
Where I peacefully slept
Where we often made love
Where we laughed and we wept
So inside you went
With torches alight
With weapon in hand
All ready to fight
It tickled my coffin
And propped up the lid
And saw my old heart
The one I had hid.
I looked up then at you
I could've fought back
But I merely rescinded
And allowed the attack
You paused for one second
The stake nearly free...
Shrugged off your frown
Plunged it down
And made an ashy mess of me.
