Meat and Dairy from Cloned Cows Declared Safe! I feel so much better now.

Interesting that the FDA and the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) came to that conclusion on nearly the same day.

Of course the Europeans are already making a much bigger stink about it than the US. Go figure. I wonder if it will even hit the evening news. (Kinda hope it doesn't, actually).

It's not that I think that cloned food is necessarily unsafe; it's just that I am convinced that no one has enough knowledge or data on the topic to assert one way or the other. The Center For Food Safety said it directly: "Any safety conclusions are based more on faith than science." Basically, scientist only know what they know, and there's a lot they don't know. Just look at the declarations and amendments from food science over the past 50 years. I'd rather play on the side of caution and leave cloned foods out of my system.

In the mean time, these cloned foods will likely hit the grocery store shelves unlabeled, meaning that you will a much harder time if you wish to willingly avoid the stuff.

Just another reason to shorten your food supply chain and know the farm(s) that you're getting your meat and dairy from.
