A pair of powerful spectacles has sometimes sufficed to cure a person in love.

What is all this ruckus about a Tonberry Day? ...As if Phoenix Day were not enough already. I find it all appropriately preposterous.

The candy I received from the various members of my fan club study group was ... a kind gesture, I suppose, though they of all people ought to know that I care little for sweets. Would not want to stain my beautiful teeth. I'll take the candy, but do not be so presumptous as to expect thank-you notes.

I received a card and a letter from mother -- quite a rarity, I must say. The woman never was terribly amiable, and even Caesar and I leaving the house did not really change our relationships. At any rate, Caesar, though she may have written you separately already, she wishes us well and reminds us to excel in our studies. Pfft, as if I needed a reminder... In other words, wake up, put away your chess set, and do your homework assignments.

Did I get anything for anyone? ...Of course not. Do I appear the sentimental type? ...though I may consider sending out a few things for Phoenix Day.

That reminds me of that "masked ball" event. Cultural festival, Masked Ball, theatre~ when will the administration learn that I am not interested in these ridiculous events they offer. I do not understand why they insist upon it being mandatory. The majority of my peers annoy me with their present and their persistent delusions of grandeur and I'm not quite sure I know how to dance. Well, I suppose I can attend just to be fashionable, or something to that effect.

I do not quite comprehend why -- because of mother's letter, perhaps -- but I feel a little melancholy.
I think I shall go and play piano awhile. Yes.
