First Loke I am glad your Pot-luck went well, it sounded like you were having fun.
So why am I here in LJ? I am going nuts! Back in October I took a promotion to SGT at work(Civilian) and up to date it has been great, I have more time off and more to do. However, I spend my days (at work) either idle, or busting my ass. When I am idle, I hate it Hate it. I feel like I should be out risking life and limb or something. I feel just flat out bored. I love my time off, you know for home life etc... but for this fact that the reason I wanted to be home more in the first place, is not home more. I dont want a rommie, I want my wife and best friend. I love her more than I can even understand sometimes. I know she is looking for something out here with a better sched. and days off. Something that will allow us to have fun and enjoy each other before we are 50 and wondering what the hell happened. This has the potential of being the best times of our lives... Travel, fun, adult holidays etc... and on top of that I happen to be very very lucky and have a very fun person to share that with, but when our only day off together she has to sleep, as do I on her day off. Well just about everything suffers. esp,,, our Uh' Hmm Life.. and I am a H!#$% little devil if you know what I mean. One of us is allways tired or sick perhaps both. But I guess 500+ hrs of overtime a year will do that to you. lets figure this out... hmmmmm 500 hours will break it down like this and feel free to check my math. if you work 5 8hr days and you hold over 4hrs 3days a week. that is 12hrs of just over time a week multiply that time 4 and you get 48hrs a month & 576hrs a year. That come out to roughly 72 extra days per year that we work. 72 days, that I could eat dinner with my wife. Take a walk with my best friend, etc.. you get the point. O'h and yes I know we get a lot of vacation, but with over 110 days blocked off as no V-days, and only a certain amount allowed off per any one day.. you earn it but you cant use it. That is why our Dept averages over 90 sick call a month, that is over half of our dept, calling in sick once a month... Now I have it pretty good, all in all. I have decent days off and good amount of vacation time. I guess the light at the end of the tunnel, is that I know Loke will find a job soon that will have weekend and holidays off, and then we will have each other back.. Than all will be well. I just dont want to give the best years with my family to Diablo Canyon.... Ok enough complaining.
