Keepsakes and Throwsakes

Nearly a month after graduation, I'm finally closing the door on the two years of my life spent at Tufts. After a few weeks of fruitlessly searching for subletters, (That could be an entry in itself, if I wanted to whine. Two people got lost trying to find my place. Two made appointments to see the place but never showed. Two people were ( Read more... )

Have a marvelous time at CTY! Still planning on doing a version of the puzzle hunt?

I hope we can bring back Lake Effect Snow next year... the Arizona Contingent would love to get in on the snowy action!

Yep, I'm still planning on the CTY hunt. I need about 5 more puzzles (out of 15) to complete the Session 1 hunt. I may have to just reuse those puzzles for Session 2, as teaching CTY can be time-consuming.

Oh, Lake Effect Snow will be back. I think we'll stick with that name next year, and once we've established ourselves as a returning team, name ourselves after different weather patterns each year. What's your favorite weather pattern in Arizona? Is there even more than one?

Well, there's the monsoon season. That's pretty awesome. Dust storms are cool too. The one that really stands out is the "Oh dear God, it hurts, I got a third-degree burn from my seat belt" season, which we are entering now.

"Oh dear God, it hurts" might be a good name for a Mystery Hunt team, though it strays slightly from my intended pattern.

Oh man, now I want to write a Hunt-ish puzzle based on predominant weather patterns in various states, where you have to guess the states.

NY = Lake Effect Snow (yes, that is where I came up with it from)
FL = Hurricaines
AZ = "Oh dear God..." or Fire Season
CA = Mudslides or Earthquakes
etc.
