Well, I got the job. So far, it's been a bunch of computer updates...mostly just making sure the computers have all the proper service packs...one has a virus and I'll have to format it and reinstall Windows, but other than that, easy stuff. I'm going to be working on fixing a reel to reel tape player (old ass thing...from the 70's) and I'm going to be perusing through a bunch of old computers to get any useful hardware. It's fun, which is more than I can say for any job I've had before. It's weird to have a job that's not fast food...where I go in when I want, work on what I want and just be me.
It's a dream come true.
I'm putting the money I'm being paid towards a digital piano...something I've been wanting since I moved here. I've got my eye on a Roland FP-2...a little out of my price-range, but if I go ahead and splurge, it'll definitely be worth it. I've been using the practice rooms at Altgeld the last few weeks, and I'm seeing steady improvement, but I want a piano in my own private place where I can practice in peace (heh...a lot of p's in that sentence). No matter what time of day it is there, there's always twenty other people in practice rooms all around me, and no matter how much insulation they put in those walls, you can still here the people right next to you.
I wanted an Xbox 360, but I have my PC, and for now that will do. Besides, music is a gift I have, and I need to focus more on it. Video games just takes my attention away from my long term desires and focuses them on short term ones.
I'm succeeding here...and I need to give myself the proper tools to grow. I have the potential to become something great.
Here's to it.
P.S. I don't usually dress up for Halloween, but this year I have a kick ass idea for a costume.
Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be dressed as Gregory House.
Oh, yea.
