[ Once she's briefly scoped out the rubble of her own home -- and come up with damaged kitchen knife to keep on her as a weapon, because it's better than nothing -- Nepeta goes searching for other people in the ruins of Mayfield. All she wants is to find friendly or familiar faces, and if you stop long enough to talk to her, you'll probably get: ] ( Read more... )

Nepeta...?

[There's a familiar scent beyond all the destruction. Terezi turns in her direction.]

Terezi! It's me.

[ Wow it's a relief to see another troll -- boy trouble kind of pales beside whatever's currently going on. Nepeta hurries over, scrambling across mounds of rubble. ]

Are you okay?

[Of course, Terezi unfortunately remains completely unaware of this boy strife.] Aside from everything smelling fucking terrible, I'm fine, I think! Something bad happened here. Meteors, maybe?

[Not a hard conclusion to draw, considering what they've been through.]

Maybe... oh, but there are no craters! Everything's in the same place, just flattened. And there are human bodies all over.

I don't know why we survived and they didn't.

Nepeta!

[Look who's running over to you.]

Suddenly, everything was destroyed. I don't know how it happened, but it just did! I'm going to be looking around. Should we stick together?

I missed it! Whatever happened, it was way too fast. I'm okay, but Pounce is missing...

I'll look with you. Maybe we'll find someone who knows what's going on.

Oh no. I hope he's okay.

Come on Nepeta. I know our friends are safe too. Or at least they're okay. I don't know what's going on either. If we find clues, it might make more sense.

Nepeta?

I'm sorry, I don't. I don't imagine it's a positive development, though.

Probably not. My lusus is missing... but I didn't find a body, so maybe she made it out?

I don't know what happened, it was too fast.

I'm sure she did. Even if she wasn't able to do so in a timely fashion, remember that the cold grasp of death has no permanence here; small comfort though those words may be.

It was quite literally overnight, yes. Are you all right? *Kanaya's looking you over for wounds and injuries, Nepeta. She's worried.*

[There's a young, human blond boy looking through the rubble. Not for anything in particular, simply because he has nothing else to do. And when Nepeta approaches, he looks up to her and says, as if it was the simplest thing in the world:]

Armageddon.

[ She wanders closer, frowning. ]

What's that? I really don't like it so far!

The end of all things, when man is judged and held accountable for his actions.

In some worlds, it is by the will of God. In others, by man's own folly.

I'm as yet uncertain about here.

Umm... what if you're not a man? Or even human?

Is that why we're still alive and okay?

Flagrant abuse of power by Mayfield's GMs is what's going on. And I intend to put a stop to it, de-leveled or not.

Umm... putting a stop to it sounds good! This is giving me the creeps.

Excellent! Perhaps you would be interested in forming an adventuring party, then?

I need to make sure all my friends are okay. There are a lot of bodies... But it's probably smart to stick together until then.

Can you really fix this?
