ephemeris: PS3 Misbehavior Continues and Worsens

Oct 09, 2010 19:55

Well, the PS3 is acting out again, though it stayed alive long enough to finally watch "Leap Year", which was sad and cute, warm and pathetic, all rolled into one.

It took a rebuild of the drive, to get the movie going, and after it was over, the hard drive was off in the weeds again.

Several attempts at reformatting and rebuilding the OS resulted in the reformatting operation hanging at 11% completion. Consistently.

I'm concluding that the hard drive is dead, though I'm still wondering if the 3.42 and 3.5 versions of PS3 firmware might somehow be causal.

Since a 300+ GB, 2.5" SATA drive is now under US$100, the path is clear.  If it solves the probem, Yay! If not, I'll clone the child's 60 GB laptop drive, and she'll be happy, temporarily, while the PS3 goes away to Sony for "repair".

====================
Is it just me, or did Amy Adams look unwell throughout this movie?
