I discovered from Jed Hartman
that you can do remote calling to support No on Prop 8.
I've been on the phone whenever I've been home every day since then, which is part of the reason why posting is nonexistent.
Prop 8, the California measure to eliminate same sex marriages, started out far behind in the polls. Then a truly stunning number of contributions poured in from out of state, primarily from Mormon and Catholic churches (which some estimates put as high as $20 million), and Prop 8 not only gained ground, but actually pulled ahead in the polls. It did this primarily by buying ads full of lies (your children will be forced to learn about gay marriage; churches that do not perform gay marriages will lose their tax exempt status, etc).
A surge of grassroots support allowed the No on 8 organization to get enough in donations to buy ads to counter the lies that the Yes on 8 proponents were spreading. The next set of polls showed them tied, or Yes on 8 only a little ahead.
Two days ago, the Yes on 8 folks reported they had gotten another $2 million in donations. They are aiming to get another $3 million by Friday. No on 8 must try to match this amount, or they will be left behind in the polls.
Then yesterday the No on 8 website experienced a coordinated cyber attack that prevented donors from contributing. It is now functional again, but precious time was lost.
An official spokesman of the Yes on 8 people compared
the right of same-sex couples to marry to the rise of Adolph Hitler and Nazi Germany.
There is a drive to bring in people from all over the nation to San Diego to get out the vote, and the end-times emphasis they are putting on this Yes on 8 drive is jaw-dropping.

We are neck and neck. When I make calls, I am getting about the same numbers of Yes and No voters.
I know it's almost November 4th. I know many of you have already donated. But this is going to be a photo finish. Everything, anything, could make the difference. I just gave money again.
If you are not in California, please
donate.
Or
call. You don't have to be in California - I'm not - the setup was quick and easy, and the calls are far easier than I expected. Generally the No on 8 voters are very happy to hear from me, and that keeps the calling from getting too exhausting.
If you are in California,
there is a lot more you can do.
