Certain days of the year are considered significant in most societies. However, the emphasis seems to be on just a few of the days that have been set aside for veneration. For example, those holidays that are commonly associated with the giving and receiving of gifts are widely considered to be more important, probably for that very reason.
Meanwhile, less selfish holidays that honor the worthies in society are wholly overlooked, or under-appreciated. As an upstanding Tachikoma citizen I must recommend that you take today to personally thank someone who's contribution to your life and society has made it a better place for everyone.
Of course, this isn't to say that you shouldn't do so on other occasions. Hard-working people deserve to be appreciated, or else their quality of life begins to suffer!
That's all for now!
