Is God a Girl?

As i was listening to Groove Coverage's song, "God is a Girl" it got me wondering.... why do people portray God as a man with a long beard, white hair and white robes? I was kind of hoping God WOULD be a woman... but it' s been like that for AGES! I mean seriously, even Michelangelo's work in the Sistine Chapel has God as a man.

But you know, i noticed that in the bible, they say humans were created to the image of God, understandable, but i think that the beliefs of the ancient Aztecs and Mayans was more believable; that women are the ones giving birth and life to new beings. And so, Coatlique, portrayed as the mother goddess, has a more different aspect than one would believe for a goddess. It's been in our minds since we could remember, that the way the ancient Greeks and Romans saw their gods was as extraordinary human beings. They were portrayed like that because it was the only way they could understand why there were thunder storms; because Zeus was angry, or tsunamis, because Poseidon was the one in control of the unknown waters and his mood was just as unpredictable. Little things like that were ways to applicate the minds of the simple minded people back in those days, when they never would've thought about science and nature. Now, going back to the goddess Coatlique, the ancient peoples thought that women were the givers of birth (actually this is true) and they imagined a woman as the main "Goddess" but since this very being with amazing powers could NEVER be as inferior as a human, they portrayed her to be as a being of another world. So when i asked my father what he believed; if God was really a man, he said that he found it as more of a spirit of energy, but not really. It had no mind of its own because it didn't need it, but it had the ability to use feelings and FEEL what others felt. Something universal that didn't have to be understood in one simple language, but rather feelings, to communicate with "God". It's everywhere, this energy, my father says. So he doesn't believe that God is either a man or a woman. I found that very interesting, and something that remained in my mind for a while (until i could post it) because it's not something you hear everyday.... anyways, that was all i needed to say on that matter.

On another note, i managed to get "Married by Morning" by Lisa Kleypas. It's an okay story so far, and only people who've followed the Hathaway series so far would understand this one (i much preferred "Tempt me at Twilight" with Harry Rutledge as the main hero). But hey, i'm not picky, i'll read whatever i find by this author :p By the way, I simply ADORED Sherlock Holmes movie, THE BEST ONE EVER! Waaaay much better than silly ol' Avatar with its simple and predictable storyline. Sherlock Holmes was amazing! The mystery (and i loved guessing who the evil guy was and how Lord Blackwood managed to survive the hangman's noose) love it love it love it!!! Can't wait for the sequel, and surely they won't kill it, because the Sherlock Holmes series were made to always contain something of a mystery. The music was slightly annoying though XD very repetitive but in different instruments. Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. worked so well together XD hahaha BEST ! ok i'm shutting up!

Reminds me of Case Closed, and i know that the main Character Jimmy Kudo is actually renamed "Conan Edogawa" for Arthur Conan Doyle and Rampo Edogawa for the author of similar mystery novels.
