I've become so numb...

After leaving Buffy's grave, I sighed, putting my hands in my pockets. She really was dead... and she wasn't coming back. I wasn't sure if I was relieved about that, or disappointed ( Read more... )

I just sort of stood there, with six of Cordy's bags sitting around me and watched her walk off. There really wasn't any way for me to carry all of Cordy's bags, since I only had two arms and all. I picked up one of her bags, slung mine over my shoulder and grabbed two more with my left hand. That still left three of her bags sitting on the ground and her still...not helping ( ... )

As I paced, waiting for the girls, I suddenly caught sight of something blurring at the corner of my eye, before I was wrapped in a tight hug.

"Fred!" I said, startled. I hugged her back awkwardly, then let go when she pulled back. I glanced around, looking for Cordelia, because she couldn't have been too far away; after all, Cordelia wouldn't have just left Fred on her own.

"Do we need to get your bags or anything?" I asked, and looked around. "And where is Cordelia?"

This had so better be worth it. There was no way I was walking around Sunnydale with Fred toting my bags, so we would just have to get a taxi. That was all there was going to be to it. Planting my hands on my hips I looked around, hoping to spot a nice yellow cab, or well anything.

Nada.

Then I heard Fred from the platform. "ANGEL!!! Hey! Angel! Over here!" My heard stopped. He was here, really here and....I was so mad at him!

Walking slow to keep the noise from my heels as low as possible I walked to the platform, spotting Fred as she gave up her grip on sain Mr. Broodypants.

"And where is Cordelia?"

"She's right here."

I smiled at Cordelia as she walked up and then beamed at Angel. It seemed liked forever since I'd seen him and he looked so good. It wasn't as if he could look bad, unless he'd been in a big huge fight or something, but he hadn't been and he looked good, like he would cause he's a vampire and he doesn't really change...or anything.

Cordy looked mad about something. Oh, I hoped she wasn't mad at me for not carrying her bags and then dropping them when I saw Angel. She couldn't have anything breakable in there, could she? Shoes weren't breakable, unless you were Cinderella and mice turned into horses and pumpkins into coaches. Cordelia was definitely a princess, but she wasn't Cinderella.

I smiled at Angel again and then at Cordy, "These aren't my bags, they're Cordy's...I only have one bag..just one little ole bag." I heard a noise behind me and frowned, "Should we go...soon? Cause...aren't there, um...tons of evil things all over the place?"

I looked up as Cordy came over, looking... pissed about something. I tried a small smile, and said quietly, "Hey, Cordy... how're you?"

Meanwhile, Fred was gesturing to a pile of bags off to the side, and I sighed. Of course... Cordelia would have to bring her entire wardrobe with her. I sighed, and followed Fred over to the pile, beginning to lift some of them.

"Okay... I don't have the car, obviously, so... we're going to have to walk to the mansion," I said. Of course they were going to stay in the mansion with me... Cordy would probably like it, and from what I had heard, the hotels were nothing to be proud of. Not to mention, Faith wouldn't mind- there was more than enough room.

"It's not that far," I said. The only problem was, that it was dark, and there were demons in the streets... hopefully, we wouldn't run into anymore, but then, this was Sunnydale. The odds of that happening were slim to none... especially with lawyers, probably Wolfram and Hart, in the mix.

Rolled my eyes at both of them. Should we go? We should have NEVER COME! But oh no, prophecy of doom, blah blah blah.

"Great a stroll through Sunnydale. Sounds fun really. Should even give us time to chat about the fun prophecy Fred and Wes found. Oh, and psycho slayer might even be lurking since she broke her evil ass out of prison." I was sure once Faith had realized Buffy was dead she had run back here to dance a jig on the grave.

"So! Lets go walking, and maybe we can take a shortcut which will run us smack into some demons that want us dead. Since we are on top of the mouth of hell and all."

Ugh. Seven hours on that train and now a walk. Why did he not have a car? Between headaches and the heels I was wearing I so already needed to sneak a pill but not with anyone watching.

I turned to Angel and nodded, "Wesley went and bought some things from an estate sale the other day. He went out on his own cause he needed a day off from work. He's been working so hard since you've been gone. Work work work. Except the day that he and I went out and were swingers! It was so much fun ( ... )

Yeah, I bet Wes had been working hard... after all, I had just left them, without even really saying goodbye... and now the girls had just left him. I felt guilty, and made a note to call him later, and ask if everything was going alright. He would be down in a few days, hopefully, but...

"Swingers?" I asked blankly. I looked at Cordelia, and repeated, "Swingers?" Then I shook my head, deciding maybe I didn't want to know.

"And... a prophecy?" I asked. Those were rarely good... one had predicted Buffy's death at the hands of the Master... and another had proclaimed I could be human. Some could be good, I supposed, but... not that often.

"What kind of knife?" I asked. I focused for a second, and frowned slightly. We were only a couple of blocks from the mansion now, but I could tell that there were demons close by.... after I got the girls settled, because I needed to go out and take care of this.

"Fred, when you say swinging you mean, in a park right?" That was a topic I really didn't want to think about. Since first of all, Wes and Fred and secondly....actually, there was no secondly. The firstly was more then enough to make me have a permanent ick face.

"Is that the mansion?" Angel was asking about the prophecy, which ok big deal. But did he completly ignore the part about the evil psycho bitch of sluttytown Faith showing up? Did I mention the evil part? "My feet are killing me, you do have electricity and hot water right Angel?" I knew how cheap he was. He'd be happy sitting around all day reading books by candlelight.

I grinned and nodded when Cordelia asked me about swinging. What else would it mean? I shrugged to myself and looked up at the mansion we would be staying in with Angel. A strong wind blew across my shoulders and I shivered. "There's heat, too, right? Cause...brrr, it's cold."

We walked into the house and I started looking around and peeking into rooms and looking for bathrooms. I stuck my head out of one room and said, "Hey Angel? Where's the little girl's room? I gotta go..." I smiled sweetly and waited for an answer. Besides, it looked like Cordy wanted to yell at Angel some more and I didn't want to be around for that....again.

"Yes, there's heat and electricity," I said. "Contrary to popular belief, I'm actually not from the middle ages... I do believe in electricity."

I turned when I heard Fred, and I gave her a small smile in return, and pointed down one of the hallways. "The bathroom's over there." The mansion was pretty hard to navigate at first, but you got used to it... it wasn't that hard, and I had made sure the bathrooms worked after I came back, what with Faith staying here, and...

Oops. That could end badly when I told Cordelia... oh, god. I ran a hand through my hair, suddenly nervous. I could guess how Cordelia would react... and it wouldn't end well.

I moved over to the living area, and dropped the bags I was carrying, then turned around, facing Cordelia.

"So how is everything in LA? Everyone else doing okay?"

"Oh everything is fine in LA." And if I were anymore sarcastic I might be focrced to go three days without using conditioner in my hair. And can I just say how much that isn't going to be happening?

"And if by everyone else you mean Wes, who had better be showing up here soon and Gunn who has this whole roots thing going on, then everyone else is just peachy keen." Was there something about a jellybean in there? Whatever. Bigger issues at hand and all that. "Look I know this hasn't been easy on you but its no walk in the park for the rest of us either. But you've been brooding long enough, I even called Guiness and they agreed. So get over Buffy already."

There I'd even said her name. Try and change the subject now your hot broody manpire, I dare you.

"Cordelia," I said softly, when she started. It was good that they were all fine but-

"Cordelia," I growled. "Are you done?" Get over Buffy already. Like I hadn't been trying? Not to mention, Buffy had been my fucking soul-mate, and I'm supposed to be just fine? When I could have been here, helping her out? She could still be here...

Yeah, get over it. Buffy had been the first person who had treated me like a real person after getting my soul back; I had a right to mourn, because my former love and girl friend was dead.

"I'll get over Buffy when I feel like it," I said finally. "It's none of your business, Cordy." I looked at her, trying to show her I wasn't pissed, just... irritated. I was entitled to feel whatever way I wanted, and this... this was important. I got that Cordelia hadn't really liked Buffy, but...

Was she jealous now? I wondered suddenly.

"Fine." Narrowing my eyes I stepped back. Ok, so that could have gone slightly better, but I really wasn't loving the way things were going. He had come here, Gunn had left. Now Wes was alone, doing who-knows-what. Faith could be torturing him right now and we wouldn't have a clue.

"And for the record, I know its none of my business, but guess what? Still Cordelia here. Now if you don't mind, I'm going to be falling now."

Power from the vision overwhelmed me, a pair of demons hunting down someone in a park. He was just out jogging when they started chasing him. Finally they caught him, tearing his throat out. His scream turned into a gurgle as they began eating him before he was even dead.

"Cordelia?" I asked, moving forward to catch her. She shook as the vision wracked her, and I began moving toward the bed, half-holding her.

"Cordy. What did you see?" I knew she was Cordelia; who else would she be? However, there was something else I needed to focus on right now, not just this argument with the woman I loved over the woman I had loved before who was dead... I shook my head, clearing it slightly. A confusing circle; one I didn't need right now.

I wasn't pissed at Cordelia, but... it was Buffy. How could I not be upset that my former lover had died?

That wasn't the point right now.

"Are you okay?" I asked. Then, on second thought, "Did you bring your pills?"
