Aaaarg, Clovember!

Look, I love Clovember. But gad, gad, my life and my headspace are *overflowing* at the moment and I haven't been on LJ for so long I feel almost self-conscious about bursting back onto it in a flurry of outfits. I can't even remember how to post a link to a photo. Yet valiantly, I SHALL STRUGGLE ON!

Let's have some clo, then.

I have, in fact, been taking photos of outfits. Some of them, anyway... I'm working two days a week on the other side of town, and getting there in the morning requires a lot of rushing about that makes it easy to forget the morning selfie. The work dress code is "smart casual", which basically means "dress up a bit in a conservative and modest way: no denim, no shorts". HOWEVER, I am playing consultant (auditor, even!), and I'm reliably informed that consultants should dress one level higher than the people they're consulting with. Which means Corporate Casual, which I'm mostly calling "modest, conservative outfits with nod to corporate element" (usually a conservative but dressy top with pencil skirt or work trousers. Plus tailored blazer when required).

This outfit isn't Smart Casual *or* Corporate Casual, of course, because I wore this on a non-work day. I actually did the cool style blogger thing of "thrifting" this denim jacket... found it at an op shop on the women's rack, looking infathomably tiny for the size 12 on its label. Turns out it's *child* size 12. Which often fits me, as I'm quite flat-chested and am very close to the height 12 year olds are meant to be according to Australian sizing charts. This is less true for denim jackets, and this one is obviously too short in both length and sleeves for me, but I like 3/4 sleeves and cropped jackets over flared skirts, so I bought it for all of $2.

Nude wedges (good match for my skin colour, even! Usually 'nude' looks like discoloured putty against my skin), white sleeveless singlet from Target which I had shortened and had the straps shifted on to hide the straps of my usual bras (alterations places rub their hands together when they see me coming) and cheery flared skirt I bought from Modcloth in a most likeable green. I like this outfit, and more so because it is in its way but a setting in which to place the jewel that is this squid necklace I bought for some insanely cheap price on eBay from a website in India:

I am very cheered by this squid necklace. Am sure I can work it into Corporate Casual somehow...
