Ha - it seems that photos of children and clothing are even less inspiring than I feared! Never mind. It's easy to assume on LJ that no commentary means no interest or no readers, but it ain't necessarily so. Am now slightly embarrassed about posting quite so many stashed clo pix, but them's the breaks.

To the questions from sun__king, whose questions I ( Read more... )

Greetings! Sympathies with you on the food poisoning, I have had a couple of awful experiences in the past few years which while horrific also provided me a timely perspective on how fragile our bodies really are. Hope you are well on the mend.

In answer to your 'how did I get here' question, it was via Jess / 'Yiskah'. I have been on LJ since 2001, a long time it would seem and a much changed space since so many folks abandoned it for other social sites. I stayed in LJ because writing and reading of length and substance remain as important to me as they ever were (say compared with the shortish evils of a twitter feed or a fb update...yes, the latter which I do too for the sake of my extended family around the world)... I enjoy your writing style and your honesty.

Who am I? Strategist, guitarist, writer and traveller. Grew up in Mt Maunganui, lived in Hamilton (studied at Waikato), Auckland's north shore and for the past two decades in Wellington. Married happily for 18 years. No children. Owner of two decks that no longer leak (quite something that in my street).

We get across to Australia annually or so, my sister-in-law has been based in Melbourne for the last decade. I fell in love with the city the first time I visited in 2003 and I asked my question of you because I like to remain inquisitive about the places I visit (and Melbourne is such a vibrant city I assume in my visits so far that I have probably only scratched the surface...)

So many thanx for your advice!!! Absolutely brilliant - being a central city person I admit having a blind spot to suburban charms. May have to put that right on the next trip (in March)!!
Cheers, Woz

Good to have you on LJ! Have Friended you back, as you may have noticed. How do you know Jess? Also, guitarist! An excellent thing. How serious a guitarist are we talking? A hobby strummer or a regular in a band? Contemporary or classical? I plan to learn to play some time, so I can accompany myself when I sing my own songs, though my handful of tentative attempts so far haven't convinced me that I have much talent for stringed instruments.

Also, being New Zealander, did you watch The Almighty Johnsons? An excellent show. You Kiwis could show Hollywood a thing or two about interesting and strong female characters.

Oh, and feel free to let me know when you show up in March, too... am always up for showing people around Melbourne. One thing I have yet to perfect is my Demographic Profiling Melbourne Tour, in which the plan is to show visitors places of very different demographic profile to give them a whole picture of the city in all its multiple guises, shabby and chic. Will you be here with your wife, or by yourself?

Many thanx for the offer. Unsure what our plans are at this stage, or what plans have been made for me. I will be with my good lady wife, 'NotYourGirly'.

As for guitarist, sadly I am 'folk met punk' and left by the 'alt country meets world' exit. Absolutely not classical in any sense of the word. Played in bands and played and sung on albums. Hobby only - good for my soul :)
