Some how deep inside he knew that falling in love with her was a bad idea. Letting his emotions overtake his every single thought and movement he made was silly! Especially since it was a human, a lovely and quite a nice human, but still just a human that he develop these feelings for.
They could never have a real relationship, marriage, kids and the picket fence holding in the dog with the addiction to barking. For one thing if the high council learned of a relationship beyond friendship they'd intervene immediately and likely destroy her memories of him. That seemed wrong, no he knew that was wrong, but it won't stop them.
He'd have to let her her go, allow her to stay on her individual path of destiny. And he'd go on alone, at least for now, living on the edges of the universes. In her eyes he could tell she wanted more, perhaps just to be with him and touch the cosmos. She too was in love though, just as deep. Yes he'd have to walk away.
