I'm admittedly bad about leaving the house. Part of this is due to the fact I don't reliably have transportation all the time. With just one car for us, it's difficult, as well as not really having the money to do much. I wish we had a local zoo!
Now that Seph is getting a bit older, I want to start looking into the free or cheaper activities. We both need to get out of the house more because it's SO easy to go stir-crazy, especially when my only reliable social contact(s) involve(s) my in-laws.
You're right in that a lot of it is due to a simple failing of perspectives, or appreciating that other experiences can be different. This one in particular makes me sad because it just seems like as women, we're only supposed to feel like our kids are the best thing that ever happened to us and if you explain the tiniest bit of negative feeling connected to them, you're a terrible person and deserve to have them taken away ASAP. And so when mothers from either walk dare to own up to what they're facing and they're dehumanized or shamed for it...that's just not what motherhood is supposed to be about.
