Just to confirm - yes, he was being an asshole. I think sometimes physicians forget that in the end they are no more of a human than anyone else. And it almost sounds like he's got some misdirected anger about not having the organization of a receptionist on his patient.
Seriously. Believe it or not, while I was slightly annoyed by six that I hadn't been seen, I didn't officially cross the line into pissed off until he blamed me for everything. For him to expect me to come looking for him or make more noise is ridiculous. For him to then just expect me to change my other appointment to accommodate him? Give me a break.
I didn't even add the best part. After making a big deal about the missed appointment, he cut out early yesterday. I didn't mind as much as I probably should have, because the hydrogen peroxide REALLY hurt, but then he joked, "You got 98 percent of the treatment." I noticed he still charged me 100 percent of the price, though.
I meant to add, his flippant comments about having just given birth particularly struck a raw nerve. I did 15 hours of labor without any intervention. More to the point, I did 15 hours of back labor, and got through it mostly by gritting my teeth and walking. I estimate that of the 15 hours I was at the Birth Center before getting transferred at the hospital, I spent 12 and a half, cumulative, just walking. Why? Because lying down or sitting hurt too damn much and walking was the only thing that gave me the ability to breathe through the contractions.
So, it isn't like I'm a wuss when it comes to pain--I have a pretty high tolerance for it. Yet he wants to make it seem like I'm being high maintenance because hydrogen peroxide rushing into my veins at top speeds burns? Dude, forget you.
I would really like to punch this "doctor". What a jerkasaurus! Hope you're feeling better and I can't wait to see you :) Let me know what night you want me to come up. HEART!
