Put up a sign anyway. It really can't hurt.

Yeah. What's the worst they can do at this point? Ignore it? They're already ignoring the sign from the complex as it is, and at least this way, I can just point to the sign before I slam the door shut.

The thing is, I know I'm weird. It doesn't bother me if folks are trying to ask me to donate money to Shriners outside of a grocery store, or to juvenile diabetes at the register. I kind of figure I'm walking into an establishment, and ergo, I am willingly accepting that that entails whatever solicitation the store manager wants to promote.

But in my home? I feel like I have the right to expect not to be bothered.

I would put up the sign! I have a sign on our door that tells the maintenance men that they cannot walk into our apartment without our permission. They were letting themselves in to fix things that we requested. We did not give them permission to let themselves in or come in without us there. Note has worked like a charm!!!

I would be annoyed if folks were doing that! If the sign worked on maintenance guys, it will hopefully deter solicitors as well. What's odd is I have never seen such a problem with them before. I mean, I got to where I expected to be bugged once a month or so by the Jehovah's Witnesses passing out "Watchtower," but I usually had a lot of fun at their expense. Didn't honestly bother me because I would willingly engage them in conversations.

On the other hand, they weren't trying to take any of my money for what was probably a bullshit cause. Regardless of how I might feel about Jehovah's Witness as a faith, they were always pretty time efficient.

Put up a sign and also, disconnect your doorbell when she's sleeping if need be. My mom always used to disconnect our doorbell when I was napping.

That's not a bad idea at all. I wonder how I'd go about disconnecting the doorbell.
