I did the ESL thing with Anne&Benjipants Thursday, it was so great!!! I was a little nervous, but I knew that the people learning english were probably more nervous, so I felt ok. I got to tutor Noralba(age 20) and Oyuki(16) Flores. So they were my age and lots of fun!!! I felt really stupid cuz I didn't understand what I was supposed to do at first...basically they give you a book of terms or something and you have to figure out what to do from there. I got to talk to them in spanglish a bit, 'twas fun ^_^ (i actually knew more spanish than they knew of english).
Then I lost track of time and was late for work (causing much havoc since Dave was the only person working Brickhouse besides me, and it's hard to run register and grill at the same time). My embarrassment was deepened when a friend showed me how to access an on-screen keyboard, and the register freaked out and froze when I had my website splat out on the screen, creating more trouble and embarrassment. I felt so horrible after that, I never wanted to work there again, and I was almost wishing someone would scold me and fire me. But then at the end of the night, I told Dave how appreciative I was that he didn't yell or act mean towards me when I messed up and caused extra work for him, and he was so nice/understanding that he made me feel 100% better!
Friday was a waste of time as I didn't get to the Racine Corp. place before it closed, so I didn't get my bear. Then I didn't go to the anime meeting, which i was actually kinda relieved of because the only reason i ever go anymore is to deliver flyers. (well, and to see friends). I'm just getting sick of the work I have to do for the club...I remember when I was in highschool, and the two Vision of Anime meetings were the biggest events of the month. I would dress in my most exotic/cool outfit, do crazy make-up jobs, sometimes even dress in costume. I'd hop in the car with my best friends, stop at Southridge where we'd be sure to spend lots of money at Hot Topic and eat at China Max, and then head to Lost World of Wonders where we'd sit and actually *watch* the anime. And everyone did this...not just two of the people there. We'd crowd around the tv, make jokes about what's playing, have disputes over sub vs. dub, etc. Then during intermission, we could stock up on as many comics, Pocky, and toys as we wanted--and with a 20% discount. And back then, all I did for the club was submit drawings for the newsletter, and they still loved me just as much. Nothing was expected of me. Now I have so much stuff to do for the club, it takes more time than I have. *le sigh* I miss those good old days of youth.
Saturday night I went to see Roy's cat and--surprise!--he suddenly has two cats!! One was a tiny black kitten that was so cute, I want to cry. It's strange picking up kittens...they feel so light and fragile that any sort of pet or snuggle might crush their tiny bones. And yet they're increadible fast and energetic. How do they fit so much power in those tiny little bodies? I got to hear it meow, too, which was so adorable!! Roy's other cat was long-haired shy one with the clearest eyes. Most cats kinda look at my face when I talk, acknowledging where the sound comes from. But this cat looked right into my eyes when I was silent...looking at me so innocently like "who are you? what do you want?" I loved her even more than the kitten. <3
Then I worked sat/sun at Woodman's. And they got new carts, woo! So shiny and pretty!!
The end.
