Still here.

Mondays are so slow. :P On the plus side, I suppose, I finished reading Daughter of the Forest...!

I thought it was very good. Hard to classify, however. The cover artist is the same as was for Jacqueline Carey's Kusheline Legacy, as well as some of Charles de Lint's books and some of the H.P. Lovecraft anthologies. But surprisingly enough, there were some elements from each of these in the book. There was the obvious first person view, but also the heroine was very open, giving, and strong. She also had a talent other than the task set before her. The imagery was perfect, never too much and never not enough, so that you too could keep your lips tightly closed to help keep her quiet, or you too could feel the spines as they pierced her fingers. The story was also very epic, with a distinct climax that just begged for a denouement. I personally thought it was brilliant, if a bit difficult to classify and compare with.

Next up, I believe, is Mercedes Lackey's and some other dude's The Black Gryphon. I don't have it with me; I don't know what the dude's name is. :P
