crazy china
Nihou people!
i'm on the other side of the world. you are probably not even awake yet. i am sick of chinese food, and so are the other people with me on this trip. it's worth it though just to be here and spend time with the orphans. they are so adorable. this trip has made be realize that i totally want to adopt a child
(or 2) someday. i love all of them.
the first day we spent with the kids we made the top story on the news. the next day we made the front page of the paper. i think we are going to be in the paper again because a reporter was following us with the kids in the park yesterday.
on another note... people are crazy here. i don't see how there are not 30 wrecks a day on these roads, but i haven't seen any. the lines on the road mean nothing and pedestrians do not have the right away....ever. you are special if you have a car and you rule the roads. also, this town has never seen foreigners before so we cause a scene everywhere we go. people crowd around us at stores, on the streets, everywhere. some want to speak to us to practice their english, others yell HELLO! as they pass by in taxis. it is quite funny. it blows my mind that this many people have never seen foreigners before!
