This is some great work. "The image of the wire sinking into the man's fat-rolled neck lingers, the guttural cough of his last breath shaking out of him, bubbling with blood as the wire sank and sank and sank...." Ick and ugh and wow. Really visceral.

Also, I love that you took the title from "The Shield of Achilles," which is one of my favourite poems ever.

I love Bucky, too. And Sebastian Stan. I can't wait for Civil War to come out.

I just imagine that so *many* of his memories are that moment, the moment of death, of torture, of lives ending. He's got nothing in his mind by bloody endings.

I thought that was a very good poem for this, as he (and Steve) were the 'ideal' - the greatest generation, off to win the war, woo the girls, live golden lives....

But look what really became of them.

I have not had this kind of giggly, silly, *fangrrly* reaction to an actor in a long time. :) I can't wait, either!
