Vacation in Southern France

We've been to a one week vacation in Southern France. It was amazing!

The area is pretty much mediterranean, with stone houses and terracotta colors everywhere. The scenery was so beautiful that I don't think I can do it justice by writing here. We've been near the river Ardeche, which is more or less untouched by artificial "improvements", unlike most other rivers in Europe.

It's been near the mountains, near the river, with lots of vine yards and olive groves. We were seven in total, Jumpy's brother and sister plus family, and us. We rented a house (with a nice, albeit cool, pool, and everything) and spent our time driving through the incredible landscape for various day trips to dripstone caves, canoeing, medieval castles, crocodile ranches, and more.

The evenings were reserved for french food and wine, and barbeque on the terrace watching over the valley while the sun gently sets.

Did I mention that I liked it a lot? No? Sheesh.

A natural stone arc.

This is what you usually see when driving the roads there.

More boring trees and stuff. Who'd ever want to go there?

This is me step-stoning near the river. I've been watching red kites hunting and soaring from rock face to river and back for half an hour or so.
