Veteran's Day

Nov 11, 2005 09:04

Today we remember those who have fought, died and been otherwise touched by war through their service to their country. I could not even imagine what it is to see war; to fight for your country, to die for your country. It takes an amazing person with dedication and strength somewhere beyond what I imagine I have to serve in the military and an even stronger person to come back from war and carry on with their life. Yet there are so many veterans’ out there, so many strong people and so many more that have been broken by the experience of war.

This Veteran's day has been an eye opener for me as I just recently learned that two of my high school friends have been diagnosed with post traumatic stress syndrome from war and the grueling training required being a soldier. It brings the meaning of this day a little closer to home then it has been in the past years.

So here I dedicate this day to honor those who have fought for our freedom and those in other countries who have fought for the freedom of their people, to friends and family touched by war and to my grandfather and great uncle who are now departed.

Thank you and May you be blessed by whomever watches over you.

veterans, family
