I've had this discussion in depth all over the place. Pyramid Head gives me the creeps.
The Aliens - The Alien Quadrilogy
Swift, nearly indestructible, silent, vicious and use human bodies as incubators plus breed with speed that would make a jack rabbit jealous... yeah that's scary.
Dr. Phibes - The Abominable Dr. Phibes
An old movie.. considered a B movie but the plot for this doctor is the ultimate picture of obsession and revenge gone to extremes.
The Thing - The Thing
It copies people and you can't tell. It only takes incidental contact and you're taken over. It can't be stopped and even a scrap.. a tiny dot of it will make another. Yeah, the Thing is one of those terrifying monsters that plays off the loss of individuality that is a big fear for most of the world. Thank God it is in Antarctica or this movie would give me night terrors.

William Foster - Falling Down
The perfection of showing the mental state of someone who has totally cracked under the pressures of life. It's the realism in this movie that makes the character scary. William Foster is just a normal guy who goes off the deep end. That is scary because it's the idea that any person, no matter how normal can become a nightmare through uncontrollable circumstance.
