I turned in my application and resume to the museum today to get an internship. I applied for something in the department of Paleontology, Ornithology or Botany. However, at this point I would take anything that will get me applicable experience. I've really set my sights on that Phd. I know it will be a long road and there is still more to do before I can actually apply for it. I am trying to focus on the little things, one step at a time. I've realized lately that I have been stressing myself by the lack of forward progress in the big picture. The thing is that life is a bunch of little steps. Of course it will be slow and seem impossible if you are looking only for big leaps. I've slowed down and started to really look and evaluate what I am doing. I feel more accomplished now that my perception has changed.
Next on the agenda once an internship is in place... finding and contacting someone in the department to work with. 8 months until application time. I can get it all done. Little steps.
