This year that is passing I've noticed that a lot of my unhappiness and depression has been from not "doing things". So instead of a self improvement resolution that is so common I am making them about the things I want to do. I think it will be better for me this way.
I want to do the following in 2009.
- Be at Presque Isle for the spring song bird arrivals
- Visit Hawk Mountain during the fall hawk migration
- Visit the Ringing Rocks.. which are somewhere here in Northern PA ... somewhere.
- Walk several miles of the Allegheny trail.
- Walk several miles of the Appalachian trail.
- Get some field research in on some project or another
- Hike more of the Laurel Highlands Trails
- Spend a minimum of 1 hour a day gardening every day when the time comes
- Go camping at least 5 weekends this year/summer
- Keep up with my photography like I did this summer.
- Get the HP large printer we have working for those photos.
- Go horseback riding at least once, somewhere even if it is just a trail ride.
I think that is a good start. They don't sound much like a traditional resolution. Suppose that would just be I resolve to do more but the list like this is what I really need. Now here is to getting it done.
