Not only do these little dome shaped insects with ostrich plume like tufts coming out of their rears look weird but when you touch them the squirt something that smells like acetic acid and jump away. Weird. To add to the weird I caught some parasitic wasp laying eggs on them. Awesome for the double weird. To top it off the little dome insects seem to have been sucking the milkweed sap... which is toxic. Bizarre little things. They look like horseshoe crabs or trilobites or something prehistoric. If you look at the last picture you can see the wasp sneaking up on them.
When I get those guides this is the first insect I am looking up. No doubt these will be the first.
