I have been working my butt off at work at home, and it's paying off.
I stayed at school until 6 p.m. today to get the 2010 Photography Club Magazine started (and almost finished). I expect it to be printed and distributed by mid-May. This one is going to be WAY better than last year's. It's all around better quality and design. I'm proud of all the kids' (and my) hard work. i will definitely be proud to show this magazine off.
Yearbooks arrive next week, I think. I can never be positive of the exact date, but I'm pretty sure they will be here next year. I'm so excited to get them and pass them out. I already know some sports pictures are horrible, but other than that, I think the book is going to be a hit. I just hope it doesn't arrive on Monday because I have a dentist appointment.
My house is pretty sweet action. It's nice and perfectly set up inside, and the outside is coming along nicely. It's all mulched out (red), plants are pretty, and the addition of the willow tree in the back yard is nice. I planted grass seed, and some of it is coming up. My mower works; I just have to find time to mow the entire yard. My roommate is working out just fine (after some detailed talks about my cleaning expectations), and it's not awkward at all. The electric and water bill isn't as high with Brad gone, so that's nice. Internet is up and running and not expensive. Bella is a good pup (even if she digs random holes in her pen). Brownie is shaved and awesome. The garage is awesome. Everything house related is wonderful. Whew.
I can't wait for summer to get here. I'm ready for new kids. I may regret that statement later. I have some good kids, don't get me wrong, but overall, this group is just lazy and doesn't think for itself. They all want answers given and give up if it gets difficult. I feel so old saying that kids have changed since I started teaching, but it's true.
Speaking of teaching, I visited with Dugger this past Saturday. Heather and I hung out with her in Angier. We haven't really seen her since she retired, so we made a trip to her house, got lunch, got ice cream, went the park, and hung out at Dugger's house to catch up. Her cancer came back, and treatments aren't working. It makes me terribly sad and worried. She's looking great and in great spirits though. I look up to her so much. she's a great teacher, woman, mother, wife, and friend. I'm going to see her again within the next two weeks. I'm going to see her more than I haven't been seeing her. I don't care how busy I am. Duggie Baby is awesome.
I have to take my National Board test on May 11. Ugh! I'm not ready. I don't feel good about it. Then I'm going to see Say Anything and AvA on May 12. I have the school play on May 13 (if I'm not dead from sleep deprivation) and junior research presentations start. I hope yearbooks arrive BEFORE all of this stuff, or I'll go insane.
Welp, I need to rest. It's been hectic around here, but it's been amazing.
