I am going to become an egg donor. I applied exactly two years ago, and because of my mole/pre-cancer, I was unable to be a donor. So many people apply, that it takes nearly a year for company to even review an application. After reviewing my application again (which I had forgotten about), I was selected to become an active egg donor! Only 5% of women who submit applications are chosen to have their profiles made public to couples seeking egg donors. I went for my first meeting yesterday in Charlotte and signed paper work to allow my profile to become public to couples who need egg donors. Woot!
As soon as my profile becomes public to those couples, it's only a matter of days/weeks/months before I'm selected to help a couple give life! I'm really excited to be doing this and think it's pretty awesome. I'll update more later once I'm actually chosen to begin the three-month process (which includes med/psych evals, self-administered shots, and egg retreival surgery).
Interesting, huh? I think so. Woot!
