You have both been selected based on previous experience, aptitude, species and reputation.

I'd like to learn more about personal human reactions. Specifically, emotional.

Emotional responses.

I can exhibit them. I'm not programmed to experience them.

I'd like to improve my database.

Explain again why I'm a candidate for this.

You have an extensive reputation for familiarity with synthetic technology.

And you are human.

I'm also one of the worst possible people to ask about emotions. We should have psychology texts in the library that cover this sort of thing - what exactly do you want to know?

I already have access to detailed psychological data. This is not yielding satisfactory results. I require deeper understanding of individual/combined emotional states and what triggers them.

I was informed my social infiltration methods are not 100% successful. That I have an unsettling effect on those around me.

I wish to eliminate this.

And then there's the fact that you murdered an Inmate without provocation or proof of its necessity. No, I don't think your social infiltration methods are 100% successful.

I gave apologies for any resulting discomfort and/or trauma. This was the closest applicable protocol.

You said you can exhibit emotions but not experience them?

Doing so would be inefficient. I can default to externalising certain applicable reactions.

I was not manufactured for this purpose. I'm designed for battlefield infiltration and combat.

But my neural net is capable of learning through experience.

[what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck]

Well, as an initial piece of advice, 'externalising certain applicable reactions'? Don't do that. People know based on your normal behaviour that you don't feel what you're expressing. It's - dishonest and condescending to pretend otherwise.

Then I should have remained silent?

Re: Private hopeless_hacker September 7 2011, 21:08:14 UTC
No. It's just meaningless to apologise if you can't experience regret. What you can do is acknowledge the fact that you've caused undue pain and distress and - most importantly - promise to moderate your behaviour so that it won't happen again.

But it is moderated. Those were exceptional circumstances. They registered as valid targets.

But they weren't, and 'exceptional circumstances' do not give you carte blanche to do whatever you want. In Cooper's case, you made no attempt to establish whether or not he was a threat; you acted solely on the basis of misinterpreted visual evidence. You need to alter your definition of a 'valid target'.

Conditions of employment were no longer in effect. Allowing him sufficient opportunity to raise alarm or reveal a more powerful weapon would have been detrimental to my mission's survival.

He is also human.
