Settling In (T'Vau, fSpock)

T'Vau had not seen her roommate since Grace had shown her to their shared quarters approximately one Earth week prior. Nor had she been contacted by the ship's first officer regarding an assignment.

She concluded, most logically, that Grace was occupied with her own work and recreational activities, too much so to have sufficient time to return to her quarters; and, likewise, that the ship's command staff was either too busy to have time to find a work assignment for her, or that they had determined that her expertise was not required at this point in time.

Either way, it would be a waste of both their time and hers for T'Vau to contact them regarding the issue.

She had made use of her free time by exploring the ship, with the vague goal of discovering the recreation area her roommate had mentioned. However, T'Vau felt no desire to hurry her search, and had discovered a variety of interesting locations and people in the meantime. In addition to a gym and a holographic recreation room, T'Vau had also learned that the ship had a population of several small children, in addition to a variety of people who, like her, had been displaced from their native ships.

She had requested that the computer search for her own crewmates, wondering if perhaps they, too, had been displaced. But she appeared to be alone.

Unless the computer was lying.

The food slot in her quarters, she had quickly discovered, was capable of producing not only food, but a variety of other items. She had replicated an assortment of decorations with which to embellish her woefully sparse quarters, as well as several small personal items. However, when T'Vau instructed the computer to produce a complex and specific nutritional supplement for the plant it had produced earlier, the replicator had merely begun beeping loudly and, T'Vau imagined, angrily. It had then emitted a shower of sparks, and though the beeping had stopped, it now seemed unwilling to produce anything but cat food.

T'Vau was sitting at the kitchen table, watching the replicator with some suspicion, when Grace entered their quarters.
