RIP Bettie Page [three handmade creations]

Dec 19, 2008 13:51

This is my first time posting, and I'm sorry I don't have all of the befores because I just got my cam. Next post will have all the befores, promise!

So I started with this one red shirt, and used scraps from it to make a braided strap Distillers tank top and for the flares and trim of my Bettie Page dress.

I did all of these without the use of a sewing machine!

Note: I took all of these on my computer, so they're all backwards. But I didn't realize this until I had already uploaded everything, so please forgive ;P

The Kung Fu shirt before:

The Kung Fu shirt after (When I can find some, I'll be putting big black buttons where those safety pins are:

I had this Distillers shirt that was much too small for me, so I freed some room in it by making it into a tank top. The red parts of my braided straps are from the Kung Fu shirt. I will probably fix this tank up a little more, so I'll post more pics when I do.

Now for my finally, my proudest work to date, my Bettie Page dress.

I don't have before pics, but the design on the front of the dress was on the back of the shirt. I bought the shirt several years ago from a suvinear (sp?) shop not knowing the photo of Ms. Page was on the back. Also, it was huge on me, so I never wore it. But upon the news of her death, I decided to make it into something worth wearing as a memorial.

Me doing what Bettie does:

Here is the design that was on the front of the shirt, but I think it looks much better on the back of my dress:

So yeah, that's it for now. Let me know what you guys think!
Peace and Love,
Little Miss Delirious
