So the insanity of last week that produced
this skirt was all for a local fashion show used to showcase local "artisans" and bands. We were expecting 60-100 people at most and found ourselves showing off to over 200! There were two t-shirt surgeons (myself included), a screenprinter, 2 jewelers, and a hatmaker.
Anyway, here's a couple of my pieces (fairly image heavy, sorries)
This was an adult medium shirt my mom brought back from California. I cut it down and added some cool camo ribbon that I had found to make the trim and straps.
Unfortunately, when I went to get a backshot of it, I discovered that in the quick change process, the trim that held the grommets had ripped and everysingle grommet had fallen and dangled on the ribbon used to tie it, which made me cry as that piece was one of the two that I thought looked great. :*(
This one was a last minute replacement piece for one I absolutely hated. I did it in an hour and was so afraid it wouldn't fit. Thankfully it did and we came up with the idea to just let the bottom half hang loose. The rumor is that this shirt sealed the deal on an engagement between the model and her very Irish boyfriend :). I'm in the process of adding some white trim to the top of it so it looks a little better and then it's hers :D
This was the crowd favorite apparently. Until I saw this picture I couldn't figure out why everyone was calling it the "pumpkin-head shirt". It's actually a Disturbed shirt and apparently the face in the flames looks like a pumpkin. Go figure. This and the Fisticuff corset are by far my favorites and the ones that I thought i actually did a decent job on. Admittedly though, I cheated and used the Simplicity pattern for the mandarin collared shirts, except leaving out the collar and sleeves and adding my own embellishment (which is the only way I can get in and out of it!)
So there you have it, sorry for it being so long, but I figured I'd cover it all at once :)
