Prologue:
My time living in Oregon has come to an end. I picked up my U-haul on Monday and started to pack my life away into a small 5X8 square. It is hard to imagine how one person could have so much stuff fit into one small apartment, but as the trailer slowly started to fill up with boxes and furniture and fixtures I started to realize just how much I established myself in terms of buying big items while in Beaverton. It is going to turn into quite the move into my mom's house in that I need to figure out what needs to go into long term storage and what needs to find a new spot in my new home.
The worst part about moving out of my apartment was that we had to get rid of the two really old and nasty couches that were not salvageable because my dog took her chewing phase out on both of them (although one more than the other). We were supposed to drop it at the barn that is in our complex, but that only happened for only one of the two because the barn was about a block and a half away from our actual apartment. By the time we got one down there we could hardly move our arms/walk at all. It was awful!
For my last night in the city Barb, Natalie, Rosalie, and I went to go see Avenue Q at Keller Auditorium. It was like Sesame Street for adults. It was amazing! I would recommend going to see it if you have the opportunity. There was plenty of raunchy moments, puppet on puppet love making, and adult humor. The couple who was sitting next to Rosalie left during intermission. Perhaps it was too much for them.
Chapter 1:
So today was day one of life on the road for Barb, Emma, and I. We started off in Beaverton, OR this morning at 6:30a Pacific time. We left nice and early so that we could drive during as much daylight as possible. It made for not too much sleep last night, but it was worth it considering I was sleeping on some left over couch cushions on my bedroom floor. As we were leaving I was really nervous because my poor car has never towed so much in its life, and it sounded like it was working really hard on climbing the small little hills through the city. All of a sudden I had this flash that perhaps my car would be half way up a mountain pass and then all of a sudden we would start rolling backward because my car just decided to give up the fight. As we started to climb for the first time I thought that my fears might actually become a reality when my car went from 65 to 60 and all the way down to 45 mph. Luckily we survived and continued in our forward motion. So we went through Oregon (which took forever), continued through idaho and Utah. It was the plan that we would stop just outside of Salt Lake City for the night at a hotel that I had booked, but then something happened in my planning and I accidentally booked a hotel that was too far west than where our highways met up. This is why we have now arrived in Wyoming... a whole 60 miles past our original stopping point. Check out facebook to see some of our misadventures.
