I would say that this is all pellucere's fault, but we are at a truce now and must show the highest level of maturity. Actually, I blame to useless llama badges on deviantart, but okay:
Derp away! I know I am XD. Also, I feel like there's going to be a whole new influx of fans since the Penny Arcade shoutout. Which, while I totally want it for this series, I'm also like "it's my little secret of awesomeness!." And that sentence made no grammatical sense whatsoever, but you knew what I meant. XD
You know, my first thought upon finding out in book five that Laurence and Temeraire were off to Australia was that they'd somehow end up, if not actually in charge of the colony in some shape or form, they would at least whip these convicts in to shape (not literally). I'm envisioning Temeraire (and his posse) convincing the military government of the Australian convict colonies that the best way to keep order is by creating a mini dragon utopia, treating them as equal citizens, etc. Like an Australian China.
And then they have a successful case study to point to when Temeraire returns to England and sits in front of parliament and demands dragon rights.
That was what I was hoping for too! But it doesn't seem that way at all. I can't say I'm disappointed though, I have faith that it will turn out exciting. :D
Oh, definitely. I trust Naomi Novik to make it awesome. I admit, I'm intrigued to see if Rankin improves as a person at all. Especially if one of those ferals' eggs imprints upon him.
And the grey background for ToS may be waves of sand, but it is such a lazy addition! It fits right in with the older paperback cover, but I thought they'd be doing better with the hardcovers, like with VoE.
Exactly! Sand just seems so boring and plain compared to BATTLING-SHIPS-UPON-THE-SEA composition. I didn't even mind the bright glaring red spine in VoE, lol.
