Greatness: On being trapped; on being free; on being . . .

Above my desk , the wall is clear. I hate to stare at clutter when I am thinking. But up at the top, where my eyes will rest when I tilt my head back to ponder, there is a question. I keep it there in hope that it will always be on my mind ( Read more... )

There is more to entrapment than circumstances or a dissatisfaction with them or your self. Is it possible that there is something outside of a person that makes them less than finished? Not circumstances or an attitude. Or perhaps it is both in conjunction with each other. Perhaps in some corner of the consciousness one might systematically destroy himself. But unintentionally. raw ... and real. uncertainty. i don't know if i know you so i don't know if i understand your struggle - i can only look at my own and reach out from there, hoping to touch yours and connect. this whole damn world is broken, i'm broken, you're broken, things are not as they should be. you are unfinished, the world is unfinished, history is unfinished. redeemed humanity is a work in progress. but none of that feels very helpful or hopeful when something very personal hurts like hell. sometimes we are trapped by circumstances, sometimes we are trapped by attitude, sometimes we sabotage ourselves, sometimes we're sabotaged. sometimes good things happen, though they're hard to remember when everything seems dark. i guess the most hopeful thing i can offer is that we're in the box with you, even if you can't see us. trust and hope are hard, especially if you've been burned before, but the only option i can see is to keep trying ( ... )

Wow.

I needed that. People usually try to put bandaids on someone after the figurative exploratory surgery. The adhesive hurts like hell and you just feel hurt AND irritated.
