Emerald Bay and Cascade Falls in June...09

Nov 24, 2009 01:06

In June we went to Emerald bay for the first time this year. Meaning, the first of a few times to Emerald Bay this year. It's just the best campsite. And it was my birthday when we arrived. We got a nice and secluded spot, #27...i think?

Look at his dork light. And his dork face.

More grilled vegetables. It started ever since our first camping trip at DL Bliss state park. that time we didn't check out the spots ahead of time and got a dirt lot with a bush as a camping spot. it was so open that at one point in the night, an SUV drove right through our campsite to theirs on the other side of the lot we were all situated on. It got dark fast, and given that dario was using his flint stick, a fire for our dinner took a long, long long time...

but it was worth it when we got grilled eggplant, peppers and zuchini!

and of course, steak and yoshida's sauce is a camping staple.

The camping was cool, but the day trips were better!

Here's a short hike to an overlook in the Emerald Bay state park campground...(near our campsite)

and...

Shots taken with my Yashica T-4. Thanks Thien! You're the best!

We took a short 1 mile hike to the Cascade falls, above Cascade lake. Easy hike, good for families. we played along the river at the edge of the waterfall. Gorgeous! The river was cold as fcuk but it was worth it!

At least for a little while. We hopped on rocks and went across the river's streams to the fork. We rested, ate potato chips and thought about nothing.

After a while some storm clouds started brewing on the horizon, so we hauled ass to the car and went home for some more barbequing fun.

But before we got back, Dario caught himself a fat-ass blue bellied lizard. It was so fat and slow, i wonder how it survived all that time without being eaten!
