Aww, Malcolm ♥. My first fandom love! *gets all nostalgic*
I like him because he tries so hard! To be the important military officer his dad wants him to be, to be the brilliant tactical officer of humanity's first warp 5 capable ship, to be the awesome and great lover Trip deserves (NOT CANON BUT IT MIGHT JUST AS WELL BE xD). And he's not doing so bad, either, only that he doesn't see it. That's endearing.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
Sometimes? He was certainly important to the general plot of all fic I ever wrote or read, lol ;).
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
I guess, yeah. He has an emo streak which I share - the fear of not being good enough. But I'm a lot less earnest than him. Still, there's a connection. There's a reason, after all, why I love him so much :D.
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
It was my first real fandom! I haven't really found the LJ fandom for Enterprise, because when I came here, I'd pretty much left Enterprise already. But I always liked the Enterprise fandom offsite LJ, and I still have a bunch of very close e-friends from those times, some of whom have become RL-friends as well :).
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
OMG TRIP/MALCOLM OTP!
*cough* Yeah. I ship him with Trip. Who wouldn't?!
6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
I might make him a little less tense, but then, that's what I love about him, so I probably wouldn't, after all. I might make him a little less conservative in his opinions. At least in his canon opinions. I love his fandom personality xD.
7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)
I'd totally crush on him, because he's just so pwetty xD. He probably wouldn't like me, though. I'm too chaotic (and not chaotic in the Trip way).
8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
He does! As I said, he was my first fandom love. I still ♥ him so much.
9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone whose new to the fandom?
Yes, I would. People would probably get the impression that the show must be called something like Malcolm Reed and His Adventures in Space.
10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?
I guess he is, yeah. I haven't met many Malcolm haters. Some Brits hate him because they say he's too British. Screw them, I say. MALCOLM IS AWESOME! xD
