So, I saw two movies this weekend:
Zack and Miri Make a Porno and
Twilight Zack and Miri was incredibly funny. I have to say, Kevin Smith wrote a great script. It's one of his better films.
Twilight: I was honestly quite impressed. I heard it was girlie...and yeah, I guess I could tell that teenage girls were the primary demographic. But, man, was it good. I loved Twilight and sincerely hope they turn the other books of the series into movies, as well. It's a nice and different take on vampire lore. And, it made me incredibly nostalgic for the Pacific Northwest...Washington and Oregon, how do I miss thee. The color tones selected for the movie were brilliant. They really accentuated the feeling of being cold and wet. One negative about the film, though, is that there wasn't any real violence. Everything was either suggested or "talked about" post attack. It could have used a bit of graphic violence. The "bad" vampires attacked and killed people...but they never showed it. I guess that fits the demographic, though. Even with the lack of real violence, though, Twilight was still fantastic.
I don't know if I want to read the Twilight books. Hmm...Maybe. I do want more.

Oh, I also saw these two movies from my Blockbuster movie queue last week:
Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds and
Zombie Strippers.
Now, I love campy movies, I love zombie movies and I love Robert Englund (Freddy Kreuger)...what could go wrong? Hmm..a lot, apparently. Zombie Strippers was just painful to watch. Not in a good way, either. Ugh. There were some good effects, though. One of the strippers, who became a zombie, wanted to eat a guy's tongue. So, she ripped his jaw down and bit off his tongue. The guy later reanimates and looks really realistic and cool. There's also a rather convincing severed zombie head which I was quite impressed by.
Feast 2? No. just no. hell no! That movie goes way beyond over the top. Um...what is happening? I did not just see that. They did not do that. I said those things countless times watching Feast 2. I will say, the filmmakers were relentless. Nothing was taboo. Example: The creatures had killed pretty much everyone in town and a group of people sealed themselves in a building. They were on the roof and they heard the crying of a baby. One of the guys went down to the street to save the baby from the car. He got it but some of the creatures appeared. So, he ran off with the baby to get back to the safety of the building. But the creatures were closing. So, he threw the baby on the ground to get away. Smack, it hit the ground....and one the creature ate the baby while it was still alive. Don't get me started on the two wrestling midgets and their grandmother who gets covered in one of the creature's acid...and spends half the movie dissolving...yet still alive.
Feast 2 is almost worth seeing for the sheer blatant, over-the-top absurdity. But it's not a good movie by any stretch of the word. Now, the first
Feast was actually a really good movie. It was original, exciting, funny, had great effects and gore...Feast (the first one) was actually one of my favorite horror films of 2005. This 2nd one....I'll say it again...Oh hell no! But it was so worth seeing...
