It's late and I'm too tired to do this justice.
I once went to a myspace page that on loading had 7 different movies and songs playing at once. 4 were in comments that people had left, but three were put there by the owner and all were set to autoplay. It was an interesting sensation to go through and turn them off one at a time peeling away layers of sound until you could clearly understand the last one. The opposite is often true in my life. It is the voices of great people that combine together to make sense and clarity out of the chaos around me. Lately however those voices have been dying out. Their echoing silence howls like the wind blowing across the holes in the world left open in their absence. Tonight another voice went out. One more great voice is gone. George Carlin is dead at age 71.
I want to believe that I am just old and set in my ways. I want to think that I don't hear the voices that step up to replace these great people because I am no longer keeping up with what's new. Please let that be the case because I am terrified that it isn't.
R.I.P.
George Carlin
You were not just a comedian but truly a Stand Up Philosopher.
