There was something i wanted to update about...
OH yea! i went to sheffield, and loved it. im so gonna go there unless i get into cambridge, and as i apparently dont even have an interview, it looks quite possible. It was a weird 2 days in some ways.
trained up on tuesday afternoon, got there at like 11 :S. got a taxi to logs cousins house and stayed the night (ive pretty much never spoken to them:P)
woke up in the morning and got a bus into town with logs cousin (never met before). i wondered around town fairly lost for a while. The town seemed fairly shit, but that was because i stuck in this area that had a market, and was kinda like the shit bits of london road, but in sheffield. then i found some decent towny bits and really liked it. theres all these weird back alleys and kinda, little shopping centroid places. scool. paniked (spspsp) constantlyabout getting to the student village on time so accidentally left really realy early and got there... an hour and a half early.
Having an hour and a half to kill i wondered arond and had a brief look at all the halls in that area (only 1 i didn't see was about a mile away, on its own, and is obv the scummy cheapy place). Was really useful, meant i kinda know which hall i want to stay in without any tricky guesses etc.
Then went to the actual tour bit, it started in a hall to look at accomodation and shit. I was like 1 of 3 people who were there without there parents, but i spoke to someone and kinda became "friends". made me much happier about the only thing im worried about university wise. Im scared shitless that i just wont make friends... and sit in my room, and drink tea. which is what i do now, but i know i can always see people if i want. So yea, im happy about that. This person has applied to nearly exactlythe same places as me (oxford instead of cambridge and nottingham instead of newcastle) and is doing a really similar course (biology or biology MSciBio at sheffield, compared to my zoology or MSciBio at sheffield) and had recieved the same offers for the same unis. weird. cept they're going to manchester, so ill never see them again.
so yea. the halls was nice, showed around by this pleasent texan...
then we went to the dept of biology type thing. Was really interesting, got to actually see what classes are like and stuff. Spoke to one of the tutor/lecturers for zoology. He was an ex-cambridge student and made some very relevent points about the education being as good at sheffield as cambridge (according to him and all statistics ish) but sheffields more progressive. I almost wanna go to sheffield more than cambridge. Decision will be easy if i dont get into cambridge. But yea... he was a zoology lecturer and started giving examples and it was EXACTLY the sort of stuff im really interested in and have read about. 4 years of doing stuff that i like enough to do in summer holidays.... get in.
and its the cheapest city in england and the 4th biggest, but everything i would need is close together AND on the same bus route... i love it.
god ive never written a post that long before... oh well. i wonder if people will bother to read it.../if that last sentence will make more people comment.. hoho.
bye bye dearest diary, math time.
