I know, right? I actually HAVE some akavit at home, brought back from Denmark for me by someone (one of those little airplane bottles) but I just haven't opened it.
Yes, but to experience Akavit correctly, you must leave it in a freezer for at least a month before opening. So you've got an excuse.
And I must say- if you ever have an opportunity to have a Tokaji Eszencia, do so. No matter what. No matter the budget, how it might match with anything else you had planned, no matter what. There is nothing on the planet quite like it.
Been around it a bunch of times, but as near as I can remember, nope, I've never drunk it. Either I was in my militant "no drinkin!" phase or there was something better around.
