The Standard Chartered Masters Swimming Series was held for the 2nd time in Singapore over the weekend. This time round, it was the Asia Pacific Masters, at the Singapore Sports School. Although this meet was still fun, I feel that the first one at SICC was more of a success.
NUS swept the medals in the younger age groups again. And this time round, I raced in 5 individual and 2 relay events. I was literally uncontested in most of my events. The meet was really more of a fun swim for me. Hopefully there will be more participation from people of my age category the next time round. My timings weren't fast, but I'm satisfied with them, considering the effort put in.
The one that I got most satisfaction out of was the 4x50 mixed medley relay. Jac and I were pretty pissed off that Kev didn't field us for that relay, so we set up our own team and trashed everyone else! I really don't know what Kev is thinking sometimes. Does he even think? In the men's medley relay, our team lost to ASPC's star studded team, but they were in an older age category. Ang Peng Siong is truly amazing.
Then it was dinner, where they gave out lucky draw prizes. Despite our team's size, our names were just not being called. But Craig, Zhixiang and Estelle did win some of the minor prizes. Then it was time for the grand prize, a waterproof housing for iPod + waterproof headphones worth $269.
I was just happily eating away when I heard
"CHUA..." but I didn't think anything of it...
"SHI..." sounds familiar... carry on eating...
"MING..." is that me?...
"EDISON!!!" it's me!!! It's me!!!!
I've never won a lucky draw in my life! So happy! Now I've gotta sell it off cos I don't think I'd ever use it!!
